So take a deep breath and away we go with September first.
Labor Day
We went up to North Jersey to visit the Naults. The families had a nice time hanging out together. During the weekend, we also went to Holmdel Park, which is a favorite of ours. Also, we celebrated Nana's 89th birthday by going out to dinner. It was something nice to celebrate after the past couple of weeks. Our friend Chris also brought us to a friend of his ranch for Nate to see horses. He LOVES horses!
School
Sarah started teaching 2nd Grade! After 6 years of mastering 4th grade, she took the option to move to 2nd. She already taught K and 1st, so why not? The last few weeks of August were spent with stress, worry, and questions of what am I going to do with these students? How am I going to set up my classroom in 1 week???
After the build up, it all happened. . . . The kids piled into the room and there was no turning back. From the story I heard, it was a great success.
Nate started his 3 year old program. Acing the two year old program was a cinch so he was upgraded to the three's. On Thursday Sept 10th Aunt Judy took Nate in for a quick meet and greet. Then on Friday, Poppy and Aunt Judy took Nate to his first day of school.
Rosh/Yom
This year Rosh Hashsananana (that is how Nate says it)fell over the weekend. Friday we had dinner at the Brokaws, and Saturday we spent the day at the Philly Sandlers. We broke the fast for Yom back at the Brokaws. It was a great way to start the Jewish New Year.
Air Show
We always look for ways to interest and educate Nate. Aunt Judy and Uncle Vito were going to this event at the Teterboro Airport. We decided to join them. They had fancy cars and old time airplanes. We spent the afternoon there and watched Nate in awe. We got to see planes take off, land, helicopters, and Nate even got to sit in WWII transport planes. It was a great afternoon.
Grammy/Benita's Birthday
We asked Benita what she wanted to do for her birthday. (Sarah wanted to make it special since she just went through a lot with the loss of her mom.) Her wish was to go to the beach. We started off at Perkins for brunch in Sea Girt and all had our fill. We were then off to Point Pleasant Beach. We went on rides, played Skee Ball, and there was a "super fast" boat race going on. We all enjoyed some ice cream as we watched the boats zoom past just 15 feet from shore.
Dentist
Our friend Natalie's stepfather (Michael) is a dentist. Michael was nice enough to offer a quick checkup for Nate since he is 3 now and that is the recommended age to go. We talked about it a lot and we thought we were ready. We drove all the way up north to Michael's office and Nate refused. It was a no go. Even after watching Zach get his exam. Oh well. Bummer. We have to try something else now. However, we still made the best of the day and got to spend some time with the Millers. :)
Here are the pics to follow what was said.
