We had a nicely packed Independence weekend. Friday was a playdate/BBQ with Nate's fellow camper friend Jared and his family. We all had a great time running around playing, laughing and eating!!
Saturday we went to the sprayground and then there was a BBQ at the Brokaws. We had tons of food and great company.
Sunday was a bit of a bummer. We originally planned to hit the beach but the rain crashed those plans. I ended up taking Nate to see Cars 2 in 3D. The movie was cute, but we didn't stay till the end. We hung around the house a bit and headed back to the Brokaws for dinner for leftovers.
Monday we were finally able to hit the beach for the first time in Summer 2011. As soon as the boys were awake we all put our bathing suits on and were out the door. We made great time to Seven President's Beach in Long Branch, NJ. We tried the ocean but the waves were a little too rough, so playing in the sand it was.

After the beach, Scott and Nate went swimming again in "Grammy's neighborhood pool". Then we all showered and were off to see fireworks in Freehold at the racetrack. Let me back up a bit, the past few nights we have heard the pops and booms of fireworks, the boys were not too thrilled about them, Sarah and I decided they might like to see the reason for the noise.
At the fireworks all was going great, the boys liked the show, and who knew you could see a really cool sunset in Freehold, NJ.

Once the fireworks started everything was going great.

The boys even showed their brotherly love

Then Nate said it was enough before it was over and we grabbed our stuff and headed to the car. The timing actually worked out perfectly. We got to the car as the finale started and we were the 4th car in line to leave.

Looking back, it was a nice family filled holiday.
Check back soon!
